Position: Assistant Technical Manager

Suitable for:  Production Engineer, Senior Production Engineer, Technical Manager, Assistant Technical Manager with electronics sector experience

Location:  Northallerton

Salary:  £30k - £40k depending on experience

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours over 4.5 days (half day on Fridays)

Our client is recruiting for an Assistant Technical Manager. They are a successful business based in the North of England specialising in high end electronics. Due to continued growth, the company is looking to hire an Assistant Technical Manager to create designs for their clients’ specifications that will enable them to provide the highest standards of manufacture, cost effectiveness, efficiency, and customer service.

The role would suit someone who has worked their way up through a production engineer type role and is looking for the next step.  This is very much a ‘doer’ role as opposed to managing through others. 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years as an Assistant Technical Manager, Production Engineer, Senior Production Engineer or similar
  • Must have previous experience working within the Electronics sector
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and production processes

Desirable Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Technical Manager or more with an electronics background.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards
  • Any experience in quality management or testing/repair of PCBs
  • Assembly line production experience
  • Knowledge of designs and technical drawings related to PCBs

The Role:

  • New product introduction (NPI) from enquiry through to First Article Inspection (FAI), excluding costing
  • To ensure that the manufacture, inspection, and test of manufactured products is completed in accordance with customer or internal requirements
  • The investigation of non-conforming product (NCP), and other issues that may affect the manufacturing and/or test and inspection process, and to the implementation and completion of corrective actions
  • Identifying and raising ‘corrections’, where applicable to product change through the DDCMP process to ensure future manufacturing issues are resolved, and personnel are re-trained, where necessary
  • Provision of tooling necessary for the manufacture of products supplied by the company.
  • Checking of the technical documentation required for the products manufactured and supplied by the company
  • Identifying and implementing training, including IPC 610 & 620 for personnel
  • Investigation of new manufacturing and test processes.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvement and streamlining internal business technical processes.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for the improvement of semi-automation and fully automation test functions.
  • Assist with QA Inspection & Test of complex builds.
